Being photographed shouldn't be uncomfortable.

If you are anything like me, you loathe standing in front of the camera with a fake smile. Nothing gave me more anxiety as a client than getting ready for a maternity shoot and not having a clue how to pose or what to wear. We were stiff and uncomfortable throughout the shoot, wore the wrong things, and had little direction from the photographer. The photos reflect our discomfort, affected my self-esteem, and kept me from investing in professional photography in the years to come. In the following years, I learned how to hide behind the lens as I mastered my craft. The beautiful candid moments of interaction between my family became far more meaningful than any staged and posed portraits. My preference quickly became archiving silly looks between siblings and moments that made us say, "aww...remember when..."

As a photographer, I aim to eliminate the discomfort by taking a more relaxed and playful approach to my sessions. I prefer to choose locations where you can be comfortable engaging with your surroundings rather than standing in one particular spot and posing. Think botanical gardens, wildlife areas, parks, or even your own backyard. I am a natural light photographer, so I prefer to shoot outdoors or in brightly lit spaces with large windows. We will work together to develop a vision for your session before the day of, ensuring you feel ready and relaxed when you arrive.
